Year 6 marks the final stage of Key Stage 2 and is a critical year in your child's educational journey. In this year, your child will build on the knowledge and skills acquired in previous years, preparing for their transition to secondary school. Your child will engage with a wide variety of texts, including classic literature, poetry, and non-fiction. They will develop advanced comprehension skills and analyse themes and characters in depth.
Your child will further refine their spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Year 6 maths involves more complex concepts, such as algebra, ratio, proportion, and geometry. Problem-solving and reasoning skills will continue to be emphasised. Science topics will include evolution and inheritance, light and electricity, Your child will continue to develop map skills and conduct geographical investigations. creative exploration continues, allowing your child to experiment with different artistic techniques and concepts. Year 6 is a crucial year for your child's academic and personal development. Encourage them to take ownership of their learning, support their revision for standardised tests.
